About JAMXP

Who We Are

JAMXP is a Music Podcast hosted by Elder Emos. JAMM Jess and her co-host Chris TFS have always had a love for what some call "Emo" music. On this Podcast we will be talking with new bands, bands that never left the scene and bands making a comeback! We will also be discussing new music, tours, new things in the works and much more!

Your Host

What's up y'all! I'm your host Jessica, but I'm also known as JAMM Jess!  I'm from Wisconsin and live really close to Milwaukee. Music has always brought me joy. When I was a kid my Dad was always listening to oldies and my older Brother got me into Rock music. So I pretty much like almost anything in the Rock Genre to an extent. I started getting more into punk/emo/screamo in the early 2000s. Some of my first "emo/rock" CDs consisted of Green Day, Goldfinger, MXPX, Linkin Park, The Used and Fenix TX to name a few. Fun fact, in 2002 I went to a concert with my brother and my music scene changed forever. The opening band was Big Blue Monkey, who is now known as Story of the Year. From the first time I saw them I knew Story of the Year would always be my favorite band and they will be Until the Day I Die.

Flash forward, I went to my first Warped Tour in 2003 because of my love for the scene.  I continued going every year for 16yrs until it sadly ended. Rewind back to 2003 where I met 3 women who loved music as much as me through our love of the band NHOI. Through this friendship in 2004 we all decided to start JAMM (Just Another Music Magazine). We interviewed bands and photographed concerts. Sadly the magazine ended in 2007 because we got older, lives changed and so did priorities. However, I will always cherish the memories I made.

I also did some street team work between the years of 2004 till about 2008 or so. I learned a lot about promoting and it definitely helped me with my new music cravings. Being from the Milwaukee area I was also into the local band scene and went to many small shows at bars and VFW posts. One of the first interviews JAMM did was with a local band called The Response and we had a lot of fun doing it.

For years now I've considered starting up the magazine again and now in this era of Podcasts I decided it was time, at least in some capacity. Over the years I've always searched for new music to listen to and kept up with the bands who have stuck around throughout the years. That being said this Podcast is going to be a spinoff of sorts and pay homage to my JAMM roots.

Myself and my co-host Chris who shockingly I've never met in person, but have known since 2005 will be interviewing new bands, bands that never left the scene and ones who are making a comeback! I can't wait to discuss new music, tours and other exciting things happening with our guests.

With that said, are you ready for the journey were about to embark on? I know we are!

Your Co-host

Howdy!  Chris here, your co-host of the JAMXP.  I am from upstate New York (just outside of Syracuse).  Through the years my interest in music and it's many genres and bands has constantly morphed.  My dad was into some early rock (before what would be considered "classic rock"), and my sister was into heavy alternative and punk in the 90's.  So, from the start I always had Beach Boys playing in my house and then my sister brought in Powerman 5000, Rob Zombie, and the whole lot.  Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in 99 introduced me to a lot of different punk music, and it kind of grew from there (constantly from new Tony Hawk soundtracks).  In senior year of high school (2003-2004) I had friends into bands like Thursday and Saves the Day who really tried to get me into the music, but my brain just wasn't ready.  Slowly I came out of my skatepunk exclusivity of listening and broadened my scope thanks to compilation albums found within Hot Topic.  By summer of 2004, I was headed to Warped Tour and expanding my interest in new bands by the day.

Later on, in late 2006 through late 2007, I had a small music promotional group called Pick Up Your Feet Promotions (shout out to A Day to Remember).  We put on a couple shows, helped design merch, bookings, and manned merch tables for bands. This was short lived due to a couple of reasons, and I attempted to revive it multiple times but it fell flat.

I never really left the scene, but my musical tastes evolved.  It felt like everyone was doing the same thing for a long time, and when someone introduced me to a new band, it sounded exhausted and similar. Slowly I began to deep dive and find more unique artists that I was stoked on, and before this emo revival, I had nearly no one who could appreciate my love for the music.

Now, with lots of bands re-emerging and new bands coming around, and JAMM Jess still being as stoked as I am, when I saw she was thinking about podcasting JAMM, but not JAMM, I wanted to be a part of it (I still think EERP [Elder Emo Radio Podcast] would have been a hilarious play on words and acronyms).

Through the many years of shows, photographs, videos, Warped Tours, blogs, and countless hours jamming in my car on the way to and from work, I am excited to be working with the one and only JAMM Jess on this podcast.

There is so much more to uncover about myself, Jess, and the scene during this journey, and I cannot wait to unpack it all!
